Inga Hilsberg has been the director and chief conductor of the Kiel Naval Music Corps with the rank of corvette captain since February 2022.
After studying in Cologne, she was engaged as a conductor for Disney's musical „Beauty and the Beast“ in Stuttgart and was deputy chief conductor of the musicals „The Phantom of the Opera“ and „Mozart!“ in Hamburg and Stuttgart.
She then went to the Mainfranken Theater Würzburg and the Theater Nordhausen as 2nd conductor and director of studies before coming to Cologne permanently in 2007 and being the chief conductor of the Kölner Symphoniker and the Kammeroper Köln / Deutsche Musical Company until 2021.
She joined the German Armed Forces in April 2021 and was initially commissioned as 2nd Music Officer with the Army Music Corps in Veitshöchheim.
Various engagements have taken her to the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Alte Oper Frankfurt, Berliner and Kölner Philharmonie, Konzerthaus Berlin, Gewandhaus Leipzig, Deutsches Theater München, to guest conducting engagements with the Bergische Symphoniker, Bochumer Symphoniker, Konzerthausorchester Berlin and Radio-Symphonie-Orchester Pilsen, to concert tours to England, Poland, France, USA, China and Japan.
As a musical specialist, she has repeatedly been invited to leading productions. In 2018, she was engaged at the Deutsches Theater München for the musical „Der Medicus“, in 2019 she was Music Director of „Jesus Christ Superstar“ at the Theater am Marientor Duisburg, in summer 2019 and 2024 she musically directed „Bonifatius“ at the Domplatz Fulda and in summer 2020 she was engaged at the Theater Bern together with the Geschwister Pfister.
From 2019 to 2021, she was also artistic director and conductor of the renowned Berlin concert choir Camerata Vocale Berlin and held a teaching position in conducting at TU Dortmund University from 2019 to 2021.
She was also the musical accompanist for the Helene Fischer Christmas show with the Kölner Symphoniker from 2016 to 2019 and again in 2023 after the coronavirus break.
From 12/2026, she will be the designated chief conductor of the Hanover Army Music Corps.
