2003
spotlight Musicalproduktion GmbH (now spotlight musicals GmbH) was founded in November 2003. Since then, the company from Fulda has been on the market as an organizer and developer of new musicals. The intention of staging musicals with a historical background at the original location has proven itself year after year.
2004
To mark the 1250th anniversary of the death of St. Boniface, the spotlight musical production at the Schlosstheater Fulda celebrated with the first musical „Bonifatius“ by Dennis Martin with additional music by Peter Scholz.
2007
This was followed in 2007 on the 800th birthday of St. Elisabeth of Thuringia by the play „Elisabeth – Die Legende einer Heiligen“ at the original location in Eisenach.
2011
In 2011, in close collaboration with the successful author Donna W. Cross, a novel was used for the first time for the impressive stage material. With „Die Päpstin – Das Musical“ exceeded all expectations and the production company gained international attention.
2012
In 2012, to mark the 300th anniversary of the birth of Friedrich der Große, the musical „Friedrich – Mythos und Tragödie“ was brought to the world premiere at the original location in Potsdam.
2013
To mark the 200th birthday of Adolph Kolping, Dennis Martin composed the piece „Kolpings Traum“, which was not only performed at the original venue in Wuppertal and in Fulda, but was also previously presented in the Vatican's Audience Hall.
2014
Based on the successes of previous years, the „Musical Summer Fulda“ and thus created an integral part of the constantly growing cultural scene in the baroque city.
2015
Following the huge success of „Die Päpstin - Das Musical“, the production company, which has since been renamed spotlight musicals GmbH, is once again drawing on a novel. The musical „Die Schatzinsel“ combines the brilliant adventure of the world bestseller with the dramatic circumstances of its author, Robert Louis Stevenson.
2016
2016 sees the first stage adaptation of the global bestseller „Der Medicus“ by Noah Gordon had its world premiere at the Schlosstheater Fulda. Fulda is thus increasingly establishing itself as a musical city.
2019
To mark the 1275th anniversary of Fulda's founding in 2019, spotlight musicals GmbH staged its musical „Bonifatius“ and performed the play for the first time on a large open-air stage in front of the tomb of St. Boniface, Fulda Cathedral. Over 200 participants took to the stage, including a large concert choir and the Cologne Symphony Orchestra, provided a brilliant musical spectacle in front of over 4,000 spectators.
2021
In a large streaming concert, which was broadcast live from the Orangerie in Fulda, spotlight musicals presented excerpts from the new musical „Robin Hood“ for the first time.
2022
After two years of corona-related postponement, 2022 „Robin Hood - The Musical“, which Dennis Martin composed in cooperation with world star Chris de Burgh, will be premiered at the Schlosstheater Fulda.
2024
Musicalsommer Fulda 2024 was all about celebrating its 20th anniversary. The Anniversary gala by spotlight musicals was a magical highlight on the cathedral square in Fulda! Over 6,000 fans experienced unforgettable moments with Chris de Burgh, Mark Seibert, Sabrina Weckerlin and many other stars from the spotlight musicals.
In addition, spotlight musicals delighted audiences with a new production of the musical „Die Päpstin“ by director Gil Mehmert in the Schlosstheater and the open-air revival of the musical „Bonifatius“ on Fulda Cathedral Square.
In addition, the European tour of the musical „Robin Hood“ in cooperation with ATG Entertainment generated great enthusiasm in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
