What is it all about? The story
Pirate dreams
Edinburgh, 1862: The young writer Robert Louis Stevenson dreams of a dark pirate story. But when he wakes up, reality catches up with him. A fierce argument with his father about his future sparks a deep conflict. Determined to go his own way, he leaves his parental home. In search of inspiration, he has no idea that his own story and that of his characters will be inextricably linked.
The birth of a story
In France, Stevenson meets Fanny Osbourne and her son Lloyd. A shared enthusiasm for pirate stories grows between him and the boy, and Stevenson begins to write the legend of „Die Schatzinsel“. But the story is not just fiction: Lloyd becomes Jim Hawkins, Stevenson himself takes on the role of Dr. Livesey and his own father becomes Captain Smollett. As reality and narrative increasingly merge, the adventure begins.
The journey begins
Jim sets off with Judge Trelawney and Dr. Livesey to find the treasure. In Bristol, he meets Long John Silver, who fascinates him and makes him suspicious at the same time. Meanwhile, Stevenson receives bad news and struggles with his health. But he escapes into his writing, and the „Hispaniola“ sets sail. While Jim embarks on a dangerous adventure, Stevenson's own life changes irrevocably.
Betrayal on the high seas
A storm breaks out and the crew is put to the test. Jim is drawn into Silver's world and realizes that not everyone on board is telling the truth. As the island comes into view, old secrets are revealed and the mood changes. A mutiny shakes the ship and Jim flees ashore with the treasure map. Meanwhile, Stevenson struggles with his past - and a decision that could change everything.
The hunt for the treasure
A race for the gold begins on the island, but not everyone will return alive. While Jim is forced to confront the shadows of the past, Stevenson's life also falls apart at the seams. In San Francisco, he has a confrontation with Fanny and his hopes are in danger of being dashed. Back in history, everything is heading towards a dramatic climax. But who will emerge victorious in the end?
