Marian Lux was born in 1982 and grew up in Bad Freienwalde, Brandenburg. He studied media composition in Berlin. Since then he has worked there as a film composer and pianist. His first symphonic piece „Dreamwalks“ was premiered in 2005 at the Konzerthaus Berlin under the direction of Sebastian Weigle. In June 2015, his symphonic poem „Die Havel“ was premiered as part of the BUGA with the Deutsches Filmorchester Babelsberg. Marian has also made a name for himself as a pianist and arranger in Berlin. Since 2010, he has worked closely with entertainer Gayle Tufts, for whose shows he is not only a composer and arranger but also a stage partner. In 2011, Marian was awarded the ZEIT prize for best accompanist at the national chanson/musical competition. In 2012, he won the prize for best film music at the Lünen Film Festival for his cinema debut „Du hast es versprochen“. Marian was a co-composer for the musical „Der Medicus“ in 2017. In 2015, he was nominated for the Musical Theater Award for his own musical „Lotte“ (freely adapted from „The Sorrows of Young Werther“). This was followed in 2018 by „Sleeping Beauty - The Musical“ for the Brothers Grimm Festival in Hanau and in 2021 by „The Brave Little Tailor“, also a musical for the Brothers Grimm Festival.
Marian's main field of activity is film music. For example, he wrote the music for the series „Die Familienanwältin“ and „Der Dicke“ (in collaboration with Andreas Bick) as well as „Armans Geheimnis“. Marian has set various fairy tale film adaptations to music: „Brüderchen und Schwesterchen“ 2008, „Die kluge Bauerntochter“ 2009, „Die zertanzten Schuhe“ 2011, „Das singende, klingende Bäumchen“ 2016, „Das Wasser des Lebens“ 2017, „Die Galoschen des Glücks“ 2018, „Das Märchen vom goldenen Taler“ 2020. The latter was nominated for the Grimme Prize 2021. His more recent compositions include „Wenn's um Liebe geht“ (ARD 2019) and „Nachtwald“ (cinema 2021) as well as regular work for the children's series „Löwenzahn“.
