Current spotlight musicals with the participation of Markus Schabbing

His first engagements took him to the Landestheater Schleswig-Holstein and the Thalia Theater Hamburg. The German-language premiere of „Gefährten“ at the Theater des Westens Berlin followed in 2013.

He made his West End debut in London with „War Horse“ at the Royal National Theatre. This was followed by „The Addams Family“ (Vienna), „Hinterm Horizont“ (Operettenhaus Hamburg) and Cirque du Soleil's „Toruk - The first Flight“ (World Tour).

He worked as a co-developer on „Dumpfbacke“ (Vienna) and „Der schöne Fischer“ (Hildesheim). With Theatre-Rites he created „The Welcoming Party“ (Ruhrtriennale), „The incredible Tale of Robotboy“ and „Es liegt was in der Luft“ (Schauspielhaus Bochum). „Life and Times of Michael K.“ with the Handspring Puppet Company from Cape Town and the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus (e.g. Galway International Arts Festival, Edinburgh Fringe, New York, Shanghai, L.A.) was awarded the „Scotsman Fringe First Award“ and „New York Times Critics Pick“.

Also: „Animal Farm“ directed by Robert Icke and Toby Olié (Birmingham Rep/UK tour), „Celebration Parade“ (Ruhrtriennale).

He has directed puppet productions including „The Woodcarved Prince“ under the baton of Kirill Petrenko (Berliner Philharmoniker) and „Ronja the Robber's Daughter“ (Freilichtspiele Schwäbisch Hall).
He recently made his directorial debut at the Staatstheater Regensburg with his acclaimed play development „Born to be wild“.

He also works as an illustrator (for Stage Entertainment, Volkstheater Wien, UFA Fiction, among others).
