Charles Quiggin received his bachelor's degree in theater design from Central St. Martin's College of Art and Design in 1996.
As assistant and associate designer he worked on „The Boy from Oz” (Sydney), “Jesus Christ Superstar” (UK tour, Broadway, film), “Show Boat” (Royal Albert Hall, Lyric Theatre, Chicago, Glimmerglass), “Rebecca” (Vienna, Stuttgart, St. Gallen), “Besuch der Alten Dame” (Vienna), “Artus” (St. Gallen), Disney's “Aladdin” (California Adventure, Broadway and West End), “Mary Poppins” (West End, Broadway and tour), “Tarzan” (Broadway and Germany) and “Aida “(Munich and Germany tour); opera productions such as “The Queen of Spades” (Royal Opera House, London), “Porgy and Bess” (Washington Opera, Glimmerglass) and “La Rondine” (La Fenice, Venice).
As a set designer, Quiggin has designed stage and costumes for “Company”, “Cabaret” and “A Chorus Line” (both Royal Academy of Music, London), “Les Misérables” (Denmark tour), “Is There Life After High School?” (Time Out Critics Choice), “The House of Bernarda Alba”, “The Wild Party” and “RENT” (London). He also created the set design for “Oedipus Rex” and „Cleopatra“ (Graz Opera), the costume design for „Les Saisons“ (Royal Ballet, Royal Opera House, London) and the set for „Uncle Vanya“ in the production by Rupert Everett (Theatre Royal Bath), „An American in Paris“ directed by Nick Winston (Musiktheater Linz), „Titanic“ and „Forever Young“ (Musiktheater Linz), „Pippin“ (Staatsoperette Dresden) - directed by Simon Eichenberger and „Aspects of Love“ (Theater Münster) directed by Carsten Lepper. Under the direction of Francesca Zambello, he developed the set design for the Klangwolke Festival in Linz. For the production „Singin'in the rain“ he works for the first time as a set designer at the Landestheater Salzburg.
Charles Quiggin was awarded the German Musical Theater Prize in 2023 for „Dällebach Kari“ in the category „Best Stage Design“.
