Current spotlight musicals with the participation of Christoph Jilo

Since completing his studies in Applied Theater Studies in 1997, Christoph Jilo has lived in Giessen as a music and theater maker. He has worked as a librettist, dramaturge and director for spotlight musicals since 2009 and has also composed incidental music for productions at numerous German theaters, including the Berliner Ensemble. He has developed unconventional dramaturgical concepts for his own productions. His drama text „Kellner, Koch und Küchenmädchen“ was published by Kaiser-Verlag in Vienna. Together with Dennis Martin, Christoph Jilo has worked on numerous musicals in recent years. He co-developed the stage version of „Die Päpstin“, co-wrote the libretto and dramaturgically supervised the Fulda premiere in 2011. He stage-directed the revivals of the play from 2012 to 2015.

In 2012, he again co-authored the musical „Friedrich - Mythos und Tragödie“, accompanied the production and directed the revival in 2014. In 2013, he directed the world premiere of the musical „Kolpings Traum“, which was performed in Fulda and Wuppertal and for which he also wrote the libretto with Dennis Martin. His directorial work was voted one of the five most popular productions of the year by readers of the musical magazine „Da Capo“. In 2015, he staged the scenic concert of the play in front of 15,000 spectators in Cologne's Lanxess Arena. Jilo also co-wrote the libretto for the world premiere of the musical „Die Schatzinsel“ in the same year and developed the German direction for the play.

Jilo was once again co-author of the „spotlight“ production „Der Medicus“ and accompanied the production as dramaturge. From 2018 to 2022, he directed the plays „Die Päpstin“, „Der Medicus“ and „Die Schatzinsel“ and worked as a co-author on the spotlight play „Robin Hood“, for which he directed the revival in 2023.
