Current spotlight musicals with the participation of Frank Hollmann
Frank Hollmann studied piano, arranging and composition at the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music in Berlin from 1979 to 1985. In 1983, he was appointed solo pianist at the Friedrichstadtpalast in Berlin. His talent as an arranger and composer was recognized there and later increasingly promoted. Until 2009, he was involved in almost every show at the famous revue theater as an arranger and composer.
His creative approach to a wide variety of musical genres brought him further commissions. He has worked as an arranger and orchestrator for TV productions such as „Deutschland adé“ (arte/SWR/WDR/ARD) and “Der Ferienarzt“ (ZDF). His first major success, however, was the orchestration of the highly successful children's revue „The Wizard of Camelot“ at the Friedrichstadtpalast in 2007. Here he arranged the children's musical by composer Marc Schubring, for whom he also orchestrated the acclaimed musicals “The Man Who Was Sherlock Holmes“, „Moulin Rouge“, „Cyrano de Bergerac“, „To Die For“, „How William Became Shakespeare“ and „Dangerous Liaisons“ from 2008 onwards.
Hollmann was awarded the 2015 German Musical Theater Prize (Best Musical Design) for „Gefährliche Liebschaften“. In this work, he once again gave an insight into his recipe for success consisting of skill, flexibility and versatility.
The successful Norwegian composer Gisle Kverndokk also became aware of Hollmann, for whom he orchestrated the entire musical „Martin L. - the Musical“ in 2008. In 2014, Hollmann orchestrated „Schiller Symphonia“ for sound artist Christopher von Deylen, alias Schiller, for which he was awarded a gold record in 2019. In 2016, he orchestrated the musical „The Three Musketeers“ for the Halle Opera and was appointed guest conductor for this production.
spotlight musicals also recognized his versatility and commissioned him to orchestrate „Die Päpstin“ and „Bonifatius“, among others.
