Spotlight starDennis Henschel
Born in Gelsenkirchen, he began his artistic career as a studio singer for projects at the POP Academy in Cologne and as a composer and lyricist for short film music. He completed his singing, acting and dance training with renowned lecturers in NRW.
His musical career began with the role of Gerold in the world premiere of the musical „Die Päpstin“. Through roles such as Karl Wagner in the world premiere of „Kolpings Traum“, Helmut Rahn in the world premiere of „Das Wunder von Bern“, Axel Staudach in „Ich war noch niemals in New York“, the Balladeer in the Stephen Sondheim musical „Assassins“, Riff in „West Side Story“, Alex in „Die Königs vom Kiez“ at the Schmidt Theater and the Shadowman in „Ludwig²“, he has become a permanent fixture on the German musical scene. At the end of 2021, he thrilled audiences in the world premiere of the musical „Knockin‘ On Heavens Door“ directed by Gil Mehmert in the role of the commissioner at the Fürth Municipal Theater.
In the 2022 world premiere of the Chris de Burgh musical „Robin Hood,“ he appeared on stage as Will Scarlett, Robin of Loxley, and Guy of Gisbourne. In 2023, he appeared as Sam Wheat in the musical „Ghost“ before returning to „Robin Hood“ from 2023 to 2025.
In „Die Päpstin,“ he played Gerold in 2024 and 2025. In 2025, he wowed audiences as Emperor Franz Joseph on the tour of the musical „Elisabeth“ and reprised the role in 2026 during a major tour of China, before taking on the role of Ole Peters in the world premiere of the musical „Der Schimmelreiter“ in Fulda in the summer of 2026.
Two years ago, he released his debut indie pop album, „Universum regelt,“ which has garnered over 2 million streams to date.
