Ethan Freeman is one of the most popular international actors. He is a graduate of Yale College and the Hochschule für Musik in Vienna. He made his debut in 1981 in Bernstein's „Mass“ in Washington.
His roles include The Phantom of the Opera, Lucheni in the world premiere of „Elisabeth“, Javert in „Les Misérables“, the Beast in the European premiere of Disney's „Beauty and the Beast“ in Vienna and „Jekyll and Hyde“ in the German premiere in Bremen. As Gus/Growltiger in „Cats“, Scrooge („The Ghost of Christmas“) Dracula, Boniface, Che, Peron („Evita“), Leopold Mozart („Mozart!“), Sheriff of Nottingham („Robin Hood“), Cardinal Richelieu („3 Musketeers“), Cagliostro („Marie Antoinette“), Alcohol in „Dällebach Kari“, Kerchak in „Tarzan“, the Teacher and Alfred Ill in the world premiere of „The Visit of the Old Lady“ in Thun and Vienna, he was acclaimed by the press and the audience. In 2014, he played Mal in „The Addams Family” in Merzig and Bremen and in 2015 Archibald in „The Mysterious Garden“ in Röttingen. From 2015 he played Dchjafar in Disney's „Aladdin“ in Hamburg. In 2019, he created the title role in „Sherlock Holmes-Next Generation“ in Hamburg, Munich and on tour in Germany and played Ibn Sina in „Der Medicus“ in Fulda. Since 2021, he has appeared as Long John Silver in „Die Schatzinsel“, as the Sergeant in „The Boys of Syracuse“ in Erfurt, as the Monster in „Frankenstein Junior“ at the Bonn Opera, Reverend Shaw Moore in „Footloose“ (tour) and as the Minister in „Wiener Blut“ at the Volkstheater Rostock.
