Current spotlight musicals with the participation of Hans Kudlich

After a few semesters of German and theater studies, Hans Kudlich studied stage and costume design at the Mozarteum Salzburg.
He began his career as an assistant at the Burgtheater and in the independent theater scene in Vienna. During Michael Schottenberg's directorship, he designed over 70 productions at the Volkstheater Wien and has coordinated the Volkstheater's logistics and technology in the districts since 2005. In 2014, he received the Nestroy Award for his stage design for „Woyzeck“.

At the same time, he works for musicals and opera at many different theaters, e.g. in St Gallen with „Miss Saigon“ and „Tanz der Vampire“, Stuttgart, Hamburg and Berlin with „Ghost“, Freiburg and Dresden with Kurt Weill's „One Touch of Venus“, Leipzig, Dortmund, Düsseldorf and Kiel with „Sweeney Todd“, at Graz Opera with „Guys and Dolls“, at Sofia Opera with “Les Miseérables“ and at Musiktheater Linz with „The Wiz“, „Ragtime“ and „Around the World in 80 Days“, which won the German Musical Award for best stage design in 2017. In addition, “Robin Hood“ by Chris de Burgh in Fulda and „Hello Again“ in Leipzig.

He designed „Der Graf von Luxemburg“ and „Lady in the Dark“ at the Volksoper, “The Tales of Hoffmann“, “La Boheme“, „Norma“, „Don Carlo“ and „Tosca“ at the Klosterneuburg Opera, „Der Ring des Nibelungen“ and „Lohengrin“ at the Sofia National Opera, „Die Passagierin“ in Lübeck.
Hans Kudlich teaches scenography and stage design at the Max Reinhardt Seminar.
