After training in Vienna, London and New York, Michael Grundner was responsible for the lighting design of countless productions worldwide.

Most recently for the world premieres of the musicals „Einstein - A Matter Of Time“, „Lady Bess“ and „Wüstenblume“ at Theater St. Gallen, „Königinnen“ (Musiktheater Linz), „Robin Hood“ (Fulda & Tour), „GOETHE!“ (Bad Hersfeld), „Der Schuh des Manitu“ (DE and AT), „Elisabeth“ (China, DE, AT, CH), „Sister Act“, „Titanic“ as well as the German-language premieres of „Natascha Pierre und der große Komet von 1812“, „Something Rotten“, „Das Licht auf der Piazza“ and „School of Rock“ at the Musiktheater Linz, „Catch Me If You Can“ (DE and AT), „Matterhorn“ and „Tanz der Vampire“ at the Theater St. Gallen as well as „Grease“, „Hair“, „The Rocky Horror Show“ and the German-language premiere of „Jersey Boys“ in Amstetten. He also created the lighting design for „Gypsy“, „La Cage aux Folles“ and „Cabaret“ (Volksoper Vienna), „La Bohéme“ and „Rent“ (Dortmund Opera), „Sweeney Todd“ (Dortmund Opera / Linz), „Der Freischütz“ (Kobe Opera House, Japan), „Don Camillo & Peppone“ (Theater St. Gallen / Ronacher), „West Side Story“ (Seefestspiele Mörbisch), „Dällebach Kari“ (Thuner Seespiele) „Pippin“ (Staatsoperette Dresden), „Crazy for You“ (Oper Graz), „Disney's Frozen In Concert“ (tour), „GHOST“ (Stage Entertainment), „We Are Musical“ - Raimund Theater Opening Gala (also TV), and for the tours of „Luther!“, „Wahnsinn!“ and „Bethlehem“. Since 2012, he has also been responsible for the lighting and video design of all José Carreras concerts worldwide.
