For many years, child actresses have played an important role in the plays of spotlight musicals. This year, children are once again being sought to perform in the successful musicals „Die Päpstin“ and „Robin Hood“ with many well-known faces from the German musical industry. Casting for the three roles to be filled was already announced last year: For the musical „Die Päpstin“, girls were sought to play the title character Johanna as a child, while for „Robin Hood“, boys and girls could apply to take on the roles of Robin and his friend Guy. In total, spotlight musicals received almost 80 applications. These included children from Fulda and the surrounding area, but also from the greater Frankfurt area. After the first casting round, which took the form of a video casting, 27 children were invited to the casting in Fulda.
On February 19 and 20, the applicants were finally able to put their skills to the test. While some of the children already had theater experience, for others it was their first time acting. They all listened eagerly and excitedly to the explanations of the casting director Christoph Jilo, before they plunged into the various scenes they had to prepare in advance.
The coming weeks will then reveal which children will be on stage in one or even both musicals at the Schlosstheater Fulda this summer.
From 13.06. to 20.07.2025, the new production of the musical „Die Päpstin“, which was awarded the German Musical Theater Prize last year, can be seen at the Musicalsommer Fulda, followed by the musical „Robin Hood“ with music by world star Chris de Burgh from 01.08. to 14.09.2025 in the Schlosstheater.
